Self Care : 2019

It’s not a new concept, but it has gotten a lot of attention the past few years: Self Care. It means something different to everyone, and design & business professionals frequently don’t put much energy into it. Hours in front of screens or reaching over a table to cut fabric. Late nights and early coffees. We totally get it, it can be worth it and so rewarding! But slow your roll, and check a few things off the list below to keep yourself from burning out!

  • Take a real, no work phone vacation. Even if staying home is all you can afford, treat yourself to a day of what you love and set that out of office email to ON.

  • Save a plant from a local home improvement store. Reviving a clearance plant is incredibly gratifying, and then you get to buy a new pot! Hit up a local thrift store for cheap plant holders.

  • Create a morning routine. Finding time for you, and something you really like (breakfast, working out, reading the news with your coffee) can help you put your best foot forward.

  • Do a social media clear out. If someone makes you feel less than great when you see them, mute or unfollow them! It’s YOUR social media account, it should work for you.

  • Try something NEW - and not for work! Find a new restaurant, see a show, or find a pick up league. Whatever it is, grow your circle!

  • Prioritize that 8 hours - we both know what i’m talking about here people! Sleep it UP!
